Stanley Hruby was born on November 11, 1926 at Mercy Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Jerry and Marie (Filippi) Hruby. Stanley took the train home with his mother from Mercy Hospital and was picked up by horse and buggy by his dad and taken to the Hruby farm in Cloverleaf Township. He was baptized into the Christian faith and attended school through the eighth grade at Mavie, MN. Following school Stanley worked several odd jobs throughout northwest Minnesota working toward his goal of buying his own cattle and small grain farm.
On April 30, 1950 Stanley was united in marriage to Alice Ruth Nelson and to this union seven children were born, Pamela, Roger, Larry, Marcia, Juanita, Julie, and Wade. They made their home in Mavie where Stanley milked cows and did odd jobs; while at the same time he helped his dad on the farm. In 1957 Stanley and Alice purchased the Hruby farm from his parents. Throughout the years as the family grew so did the farm. He loved life on the farm and farming was his life, he especially enjoyed his polled Herefords.
In his younger years, Stanley trapped to supplement his income; his love for hunting continued throughout his life and he shared that passion with his kids and grandkids. He always enjoyed shooting and was still a better shot than his kids. Stanley had a passion to attend auction sales where he enjoyed visiting as much as purchasing. He was a carpenter and mechanic and built most of the outbuildings on the farm and fixed his own machinery; and also doctored his own cattle.
He was a member of the Eagleâs Club in Thief River Falls.
Survivors include his children, Pamela Hruby of Thief River Falls, Roger (Karen) Hruby of Goodridge, MN, Larry (Gwen) Hruby of Osage, MN, Marcia (Tom) Hutton of Grand Forks, ND, Juanita (Jim) Fisher of Wills Point, TX, Julie (Maurice) Titus of Nampa, ID, Wade (Mary Beth) Hruby of Salol, MN; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Barb Hruby of San Antonio, TX; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
