Biography

Leonard Rahier, 77, of Oklee, MN died on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Essentia Hospital in Fosston, MN.

Memorial services will be held 5:00 PM, Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN with Deacon John Bruggeman presiding.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service on Thursday.

Leonard Donald Rahier was born on February 1, 1935 to Ralph and Eda (Hince) Rahier on the farm in rural Oklee, MN the third of five children. He grew up in Lambert Township, Red Lake County, MN. He attended school in Oklee, MN.

He moved with his family to Grand Rapids, MN. He was united in marriage to Karen Yvonne Johnson in Grand Rapids, MN. He worked for Swanson Chevrolet in Grand Rapids as a service technician for over 35 years. Karen died on April 6, 1993.

He moved to Oklee in 1995. He lived at Pioneer Nursing Home for the past couple of months.

Leonard enjoyed fishing at Red Lake. He also liked hunting birds and deer. He liked animals and livestock. He enjoyed going out to eat, partying, and dancing. He was a big flirt. He enjoyed watching the farms and how they operated. He has enjoyed his great grandchildren the past few years.

Leonard is survived by five sons: Richard (Toni) Rahier, Oklee, MN, David Rahier, Grand Rapids, MN, Danny (Petra) Rahier, Dixon, MO, Mark (Julie) Rahier, Deer River, MN, Timothy Rahier, Thief River Falls, MN, grandchildren: Julie (Mel) Davis, Jana (Seth), Ricky (Krista), Kaija (Jay), Shaina, Tania (Mat), Keisha (Marcus), Jasmine, Felicia, Waylon, Tiffany (Cody), Johnny (Cassie), Kimberly, Dustin, Kailey, Dylan, 21 great grandchildren, sister Ella (Barney) Lilgreen, Babbitt, MN, brother Richard (Carolyn) Rahier, Grand Rapids, MN, and several nieces and nephews.

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, sister Donna Burt, brother Willard Rahier, grandson Travis Rahier.
