Life Legacy


Clarice Rooker, 83, died on Friday, September 28, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 10:30 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Ben Carlsen and Reverend Mark Helgeland Officiating. Burial will be held in the Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held on Monday, 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Green Funeral Service in Thief River Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Clarice Srnsky was born on December 28, 1928 at Grygla, MN daughter of the late Francis “Frank” and Ida (Sordahl) Srnsky. Clarice moved with her family to the St. Hilaire, MN area at an early age where she attended school. Following her education she worked various jobs in the area. Clarice contracted TB in her 20’s and spent a year in the hospital in Crookston.

Clarice was united in marriage to Elmer James Rooker on October 3, 1959 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. The couple made their home in the Rosewood area, where they farmed for many years. She worked at Challenger School in food service and worked seasonal for a turkey farmer.

Clarice loved to garden and take care of her flowers she taught Sunday School and Bible School, was a 4H leader and was a member of the Viking Town and Country Garden Club, a member of the Rosewood Homemakers, the quilting group at Redeemer Lutheran, a member and the Christian Women and an active member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church. She held many offices in the groups she was active in.

Clarice is survived by two children, Janeen (Ted) LaFriniere of Bemidji, MN and James (Rebecca) Rooker of Elk River, MN; six grandchildren Rachel, Andrea, Jeremy, Zachary, Trevor, and Kyle. Brothers and sisters Richard (Alice) Srnsky of Zimmerman, MN; Jean (Al) Walker of Duluth, MN; Jim (Pat) Srnsky of St. Hilaire, MN; Jack (Cheryl) Srnsky of St. Hilaire, MN; Darlene (Vernon) Rooker of Grand Forks, ND and Sharon (John) Bugge of St. Hilaire, MN: along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, on January 3, 2007; and her parents.
