Adeline Irene Parnow, 90 of Thief River Falls passed away peacefully on Friday August 21 at the Thief River Care Center surrounded by her loving family at her side.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Service Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Burial will be at Ekelund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN.
Visitation will be held on Monday 5-7 pm on Monday evening at the funeral home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Adeline Irene was born May 1, 1930 in a small house in Reiner Township, Goodridge Minnesota. Her parents were John Palmer and Mayme Sena Hennerita (Dahlen) Kulseth. She was baptized July 6, 1930 at Ekelund Lutheran Church by Reverend O. O. Bjorgan and she was confirmed at the Goodridge Lutheran Church in 1945. Adeline attended the Goodridge School where she graduated May 1949.
Robert and Adeline were married October 8, 1949 at the Goodridge Lutheran Church. Robert and Adeline set up farming and housekeeping on the Otto Parnow farm where they farmed and raised their family.
Adeline was a very active member of the Ekelund Church where she taught Sunday school, and served on many officer positions and many committees in the Ladies Aide. After moving to Thief River Falls she was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Adeline was very involved as a leader for 20 years in the Star 4-H club with her children. Adeline was President of the 4-H council for many years and in 1991 she was inducted into the 4-H Hall of Fame. She was a contestant in the "Make it Yourself with Wool" contest. She was a member of the Star Township Homemakers club.
In 1967 Adeline and Robert were named Conservation Farmer of the Year. They also received the Pennington County "Farm Family of the Year" in 1984, and they were presented the Valley Farmer and Homemaker award in 1987.
Adeline and Robert retired from farming in 1989 and moved to a beautiful home by the river in Thief River Falls. Adeline started her housecleaning business and retired with a golden dust pan award.
In 1994 Robert and Adeline downsized into a smaller condo where they lived until the fall of 2011 when, Adeline sold the condo and enjoyed living at the Pioneer Court until the fall of 2013, and then moved to Valley home, and then moved to The Thief River Care Center in July of 2017.
Adeline enjoyed many hobbies, crafts, gardening, and her flowers. She had a great interest in her family, neighbors, her church, and 4-H Club. She was the first one there with a hot dish or pan of brownies for anyone who needed help.
Adeline is survived by three sons: Robert (Gayle) of Kansas City, MO, Fred (Beth) of Crookston MN, and Ross (Lara) of Divide Co. One daughter Marie (John) Schell in Roseville CA. 7 Grandchildren: Ann (Keith) Weller, Chris (Trish), Matt, and Adam Parnow, and John E. (Tiffany), Kevin (Hannah) and Robert (Shelly) Schell. 6 Great Grandchildren: Brandon Hargreaves-Christ, Caden and Gavin Parnow, Sydney and Taylor Schell, Evelyn Schell. Sisters: Joyce Sand of Bemidji and Eileen (Art) Huna of Forest Lake MN. Also, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Robert Parnow, Sister Delores Sorter, Brother Dennis Kulseth.
In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Ekelund Sunday School Fund, Hospice of the RRV or the Thief River Care Center Patio Fund.
