Adella Lindquist, 90, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 14, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN with Rev. Robert Paulson officiating. Burial will follow at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Oklee, MN.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Friday, August 14, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN.
Adella Gayline Lindquist was born on November 14, 1918 in Oklee, MN the daughter of August Nils and Gunhild (Engen) Lindquist. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee. Adella attended Oklee Public Schools and graduated in 1937.
Following high school, she attended Concordia College and graduated, in 1942 with degrees in English, library science, and music teaching. At Concordia Adella was a member of the Alpha Kappa Chi Society and the college choir for all four years.
Adella worked as a public school teacher for 38 years. She taught at schools in New England, ND, Kennewick, WA, and Oklee, MN, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee and was active in the Naomi Circle. Adella served as church organist for many years and was active in various other church organizations.
She took two special trips to Norway to visit relatives, enjoyed many vacations to Elbow Lake to visit family, and spent countless hours visiting with family and friends.
Adella has resided at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes since 2001.
Survivors include brother, Willard (Vernice) Lindquist of Moorhead, MN; sisters, Marvel Sheets of LaPorte, MN and Norma Sweet of Blaine, MN; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Mauritz, Raymond, Vernon and Harold; sister, Alice Lindquist; sisters-in-law, Ruth Lindquist and Joan Lindquist; brothers-in-law, Paul Sweet and Arthur Sheets; and niece, Jean Lindquist.
