Obituary

Adelore Henry Cota, 81, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2006 from 5-8 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service at the Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN and also one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Adelore Henry Cota was born on May 17, 1924 in Crookston, MN to Napoleon and Emelda (Huot) Cota. He was baptized and confirmed in Dorothy, MN. He attended country school and then the Agricultural School in Crookston for two years. Adelore served his country from 1945 to 1947 in the US Army, where he was stationed for some time in Korea.

Adelore was united in marriage to Lucille Marie Marleau on November 25, 1947 in Red Lake Falls, MN, where the couple made their home. Adelore worked at the Red Lake Falls Silo Company for many years. He then purchased the Silo Company and continued to operate it. He also owned the local Redi Mix Plant where he worked until his retirement. He became a resident at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in 2000.

Adelore had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the times he and his family had at the Springsteel Resort. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, cards, and dancing. He had a knack of telling jokes and always had suckers for all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Adelore was a member and past commander of the American Legion in Red Lake Falls, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and the Eagles in Crookston.

He is survived by 5 children: Jerome (Gale) Cota, Thief River Falls, MN; Shirley (Scott) King, Mahtomedi, MN; Carol (Tom) King, Warroad, MN; Alan Cota, Red Lake Falls, MN; and Mike (Kathy) Cota, Moorhead, MN; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother Edward (Cheri) Cota, Red Lake Falls, MN; 3 sisters: Sister Raphael Cota, Crookston, MN; Mildred Vilven, Crookston, MN; Alice Sirek, Fargo, ND.

He was preceded in death by his his wife Lucille in 2000; his parents, brothers Lyzium, Medi, Henry, Leo Cota; sisters Celia Guzek, Mabel Mercil, Sr. Imelda Cota, Leda Weiland, Viola Fitzsimmons.

Memorials are suggested to the Hillcrest Nursing Home Auxilary.
