Obituary

Adrian S. Johnson, 80, died Wednesday, March 27, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, April 1, 2002, at Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla, MN, with Reverend Paul Knutson officiating.  Burial will be at St. Petri Lutheran Cemetery, Valley Township, Marshall County, MN.

Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM, Sunday, March 31, 2002 at the Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, MN with a 6:30 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church on Monday.

Adrian S. Johnson was born April 21, 1921, in Grygla, MN, the son of Severine and Christine (Sunderland) Johnson.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Petri Lutheran Church near Grygla.  He grew up and attended country school near Grygla.  He helped on the family farm in Eckvoll Township, until enlisting in the U.S. Army on May 13, 1942.  He served in Central Europe and England.  He was honorably discharged August 5, 1945.

On June 30, 1950, Adrian was united in marriage to Edna Irene Christianson at Grygla, MN.  The couple made their home on the Johnson family farm in Eckvoll Township, Marshall County, MN, where they farmed.  They milked cows and even after retiring, he continued to help on the farm.

Adrian was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church and the VFW in Grygla.  He enjoyed fishing, horseshoe throwing, baseball, throwing darts and watching other sports on TV.  While in the Army, he did some boxing.

Survivors include wife, Edna and daughter, Marcie (Gordy) Moe, all of Grygla, MN; 2 grandchildren, Kelsie and Bethany Moe; 3 sisters, Gail (Palmer) Lian and Audrey Johnson, all of Grygla, MN and Joyce Reick, St. Paul, MN and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey, parents, brothers, Art and Erwin, sister-in-law, Alpha Johnson and brother-in-law, Walter Reick.
