Agnes Mandt, 90, died at the Columbia Lutheran Home in Seattle, WA on Monday, October 31, 2005.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. A memorial service will be held at Columbia Lutheran Home, Seattle, WA at 10:15 am Wednesday November 30.
Agnes Engebretson was born on April 6, 1915 to Norwegian immigrants Nils and Oliane (Hanson) Engebretson in Holt, MN. She was the second of three daughters. She grew up and attended grade school in Holt where her father served as the postmaster.
Agnes was united in marriage to Alvin S. Mandt on November 1938. Together they farmed east of St. Hilaire and raised two daughters. They attended the Covenant Church in St. Hilaire and Thief River. She cleaned houses, cooked and provided childcare for a variety of employers in Thief River Falls and Seattle, WA.
Agnes was a very diligent worker. She tended a large garden and canned the produce from it. She also enjoyed cooking, and sewing. She moved to Seattle in 1980 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Agnes is survived by her two daughters: Jean (Paul) Lepse, Seattle, WA; Marilyn Carlson, Bow, WA; four grandchildren: David Lepse, Seattle, WA; Dwight (Ann) Lepse, Snohomish, WA; Kevin Carlson, Bow, WA; Daniel Carlson, Ithaca, NY; three great grandchildren: Joel, Claire and Samuel Lepse; sister; Ruth Johnson, Newfolden, MN; niece Barbara Johnson, nephew Dale (Annette) Johnson of Newfolden and other relatives and friends.
Agnes was preceded in death by her husband Alvin in 1970, her sister Olive Undi, granddaughter Karleen Carlson and son-in-law Joel Welo Carlson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Columbia Lutheran Home at 4700 Phinney Ave North, Seattle, WA 98103 or charity of choice.
