Obituary

Agnes Parnow, 91, of Thief River Falls, MN, formerly of Goodridge, MN, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Bob Dahlen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.


Agnes Johnson was born on December 30, 1919 at Highlanding Township, the daughter of Martin and Minnie (Bisbing) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Agnes attended Old Glory Country School and High School in Goodridge.

Following high school, Agnes was united in marriage to Raymond Parnow on March 6, 1938. Agnes and Raymond were blessed with two sons, Richard and David. Together they raised their family and farmed in Kratka Township for over 50 years.

Throughout her life, Agnes enjoyed working in her garden, fishing, dancing, and playing cards. She was an excellent cook, making several wonderful dishes for her family. Agnes was a 4-H Leader in Kratka Township for many years and also served as a play director for Share the Fun, a series of plays involving the children in the Kratka 4-H Group. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.

Agnes is survived by her sons, Richard (Donna) Parnow of Goodridge, MN, and David (Dianne) Parnow of Anchorage, Alaska; grandsons, Tim (Penny) Parnow of Baudette, MN, and Jerry (Sandy) Parnow of Goodridge, MN; great-grandchildren, Kellie Parnow of Badger, MN, Brennen and triplets, Easton, McKenna, and Marissa Parnow of Goodridge, MN; sister, Betty Thompson of Seattle, WA, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; sisters, Esther, Laura, Eileen, and Mable, and her brothers, Harold, Roy, and Lloyd.
