Agnes Tieman, 89, died Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at Northwest Medical Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2003, at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery, Smiley Township, Pennington County, MN.
Visitation will be 5 "7 PM, Friday, January 17, 2003 at Johnson Green Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Agnes Anenson was born September 2, 1913 in Kratka Township, Pennington County, MN, the daughter of Anders and Anna (Halvorson) Anenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Telemarken Lutheran Church. She grew up and attended Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls, MN for 3 years and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1929. She also attended Moorhead State Teachers College to become a teacher. She was a country schoolteacher for several years.
On January 2, 1935, Agnes was united in marriage to Wallace E. Tieman at Mavie, MN. The couple farmed all their years, raising small grain and livestock. Wallace and Agnes enjoyed sixteen winters in McAllen, TX, where they spent their days sight seeing, visiting with their many friends, participating in flea markets and playing cards with fellow winter Texans. Agnes and Wallace were experienced whist players, who enjoyed playing their sons, Elwood and Wayne, usually winning most of the games.
Agnes was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church, serving as Sunday School teacher and Superintendent and WELCA member and officer. She always had a large garden and was a member of the Moccasin Garden Club for many years. Agnes was an excellent cook, whose homemade bread and buns were the best.
Survivors include husband of 68 years, Wallace; sons, Elwood (Rhodella), Goodridge, MN and Wayne (Lenay), Cavalier, ND; 4 grandchildren, Susan Tieman, Curtis (Lois) Tieman, all Goodridge, MN, Andrea Tieman, Fargo, ND and Brett Tieman, Cavalier, ND; 2 great grandchildren, Vanessa and Michelle Tieman.
Preceded in death by parents; sister, Elline; brothers, Andrew, Henry, Orin and Albin
