Obituary

Aileen Mae Benitt, 94, of Holt, Minnesota, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and unconditional love for her family.

Aileen was born on April 13, 1932, in Lambert Township near Oklee, Minnesota, to Armond J. and Elvie V. (Bremseth) Corriveau. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith in Oklee and attended Catholic school in Thief River Falls. Growing up in northwest Minnesota helped shape the strong work ethic, resilience, and devotion to family that would define her life.

She married the love of her life, Orvus Benitt, and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage while building a life centered around faith, family, and farming. As a devoted farm wife, Aileen was never afraid of hard work. She helped run tractors, raised cattle, and cared for her home and family with unwavering dedication.

Throughout her life, Aileen also worked as a store clerk, spending time at the Clothes Closet, Bjorkman's Men's Department, and Larson's Music Store. Whether at work, on the farm, or at home, she was known for her kindness, dependability, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Aileen found great joy in caring for others through her many talents. She especially loved baking and became well known for creating beautiful wedding cakes that helped celebrate countless special occasions. She also enjoyed gardening and sewing, finding happiness in creating beauty with her hands and sharing it with those she loved.

Her faith remained the cornerstone of her life. Aileen was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, where she faithfully served through Ladies Aid and was active in her church community for many years.

More than anything, Aileen treasured her family. She found her greatest happiness in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow, celebrating each milestone and surrounding them with love, encouragement, and unwavering support. Her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Aileen is survived by her children, Val Melin and Kent O. Benitt; her grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Benitt, Jason (Laura) Melin, Kimberly (Matt) Scholin, Tracy (Troy) Gerber, and Tara(Ryan) Knutson; her great-grandchildren, Megan (Chris) Onstad, Eryn Benitt, Keegan Benitt, Alexander Melin, Dominick Melin, Mason Scholin, McKenna Scholin, Hannah Olson, Olivia Olson, Ella Knutson, and Carl Knutson; her sisters, Geraldine Benson and Mildred Ford; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Orvus; her son and daughter in law, Bruce (Geri) Benitt Son-In-Law-Thomas Melin; her parents, Armond and Elvie Corriveau; her infant sisters; her infant brother; her siblings, Joseph Corriveau, Ethel Burge, Joyce Borgeson, Kenneth Corriveau, Bernell Corriveau, Ann Farley, Lois Dresel, and Robert Corriveau; and her great-grandson, Grady Benitt.

A service celebrating Aileen's life will be held at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt, Minnesota, with visitation from 5 to 7 PM and memory time at 6:30 PM Friday, July 17, 2026.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Aileen's life was one well lived—a life marked by faith, humility, hard work, and unwavering love for those around her. Her memory will continue to live on in the family she cherished and in the countless lives she touched.
