Obituary

Albert Koop, 89, died Monday, August 1, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN.

Albert William Lewis Koop was born December 22, 1915 in Rocksbury Township, St. Hilaire, MN, to the late Henry and Helena (Siefken) Koop. He was baptized at home into the Christian Faith on January 18, 1916 into St. John Lutheran Church by Pastor Fred Seltz.

He grew up in Rocksbury Township and attended Sunnyside School, where he completed the 8th grade. He was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls on July 21, 1929 by Pastor V. E. Schroeder.

He was united in marriage to Eleanor Elaine Hoard on June 22, 1944. The couple farmed in Rocksbury Township, Pennington County, MN.

Albert had been a member of St. John Lutheran Church. He held offices of Chairman, Treasurer, Elder, Trustee and Financial Secretary. He also held offices as President of the Crookston Walter League and was the 1st Treasurer of the Lutheran Laymen League for the Crookston District. On October 25, 2003, Albert became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church at Radium, MN. He also served 30 years on the Rocksbury Township Board, 14 years on Pennington County Board, 22 years on the Pennington County Fair Board and 10 years on the Oakland Park Nursing Home Board. He also served on the Pennington County Extension Board and Human Service Board on the State level. He also helped organize the Northwest Dairy Day and served on many other public boards.

July 1997, Albert moved to Valley Nursing Home. In July 1999, he moved to the CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center where he resided until he died.

Survived by 5 children, Myles (Donna) and Dale (Gladee), all Thief River Falls, MN Alan (Sherryl), Grand Forks, ND, Mary (John) Wayne, Lichfield, MN and Sharon (Greg) Piche, Thief River Falls, MN; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Koop, Minneapolis, MN; 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by wife, Elaine September 16, 1988, son, Hillard Leland Koop, parents, 8 sisters, Caroline, Mathilda, Linda, Emily, Anna, Hannah, Edna and Ida, 3 brothers, Henry, Fred and Martin.
