Alec Moe passed Sunday, May 12, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Faith Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM in Goodridge, Minnesota with Reverend Robert Dahlen officiating. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Alec Moe has passed from this world and has begun his next journey. He was born September 23, 1939 to Emma (Cuno) and Albert Moe and raised near Grygla, MN with his three brothers and three sisters. He served in the Minnesota National Guard. Married Lemay Marquis and they purchased a beautiful farm on the Red Lake River near Thief River Falls, MN. The couple raised three children, hogs and small grains. Other then farming, Alec had many careers that he liked to reference: logger, maintenance man, loading trucks, road grader, construction worker, nut harvester, truck driver His unique and creative fixes that he applied to his work and hobbies are nothing short of legendary. Alec was a philosopher who enjoyed a good visit filled with humor, history and world theories ranging from religion and politics to UFO's and pyramids. He was an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction and would cheerfully pass on his "good reads" to who he felt would enjoy them most. Alec had many interests and hobbies including skiing, sailing, dancing, biking ridding, camping and most of all traveling. Alec would journey to anywhere if he had a mission; Goodridge, Grygla, Skime, Roseau or Wannaska to visit family and friends, or to the Cities or Glyndon to help his kids with their home projects, and even Grand Forks to check out the thrift stores and have lunch. If he had good company to ride along with him, that made any journey all the more enjoyable for him! Being a father was Alec's greatest joy. He was proud to have children who got along with each other and turned out well. Heather married Jeremy Engen and lives near Glyndon, MN. Heather is a step mother to Emily (14 years) and mother to Wylie (9 months). Lance lives in New Brighton, MN and is married to Anne (Kroening). Lance and Anne have 7 year old twin boys named Charles and Isaac. Andrea is married to Lynn Berard. Emily (10 Years) and Luke (6 years) are their two children. The Berards make their home on French lake in Annandale, MN. His children appreciate the monumental fortitude it took for Dad to do all he did for and with us. His hard work to pay for the things we needed, the wood he chopped and hauled to keep us warm, the effort he made to spend time with us doing fun things. He liked mentoring young people making him "Dad" to the neighborhood. His gentle guidance and encouragement will be missed by all of us. Alec always passed on the "News of the North" from his sisters, Linda Carlson and Violet Diesen in Roseau and updates from his sister Marrion Anderson in Cocoa Beach, FL. He looked forward to going to auctions and lunch with his brother Edward. He enjoyed keeping up with all his nieces and nephews and sharing what was going on with them. Alec is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Raymond and Leonard.
