Alfred Fred J. Hagl, Sr., 66, died Thursday, July 16, 2009 at his residence in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Chuck Huck presiding. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in Terrebonne, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, July 20, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday at church.
Alfred Joseph Hagl, Sr. was born April 1, 1943 in Lake Pleasant Township, Red Lake County, MN the son of Louis and Luella (Meyer) Hagl. He was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic faith and Fred attended Badger Creek Country School and Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls.
Fred worked for Kelly Moran doing landscaping, he worked building silos in many states and in Canada, he worked for Spring Gravel near Fertile, MN, Dee Inc., the beet plant in Crookston, the ODC in Crookston and Thief River Falls and also worked for area farmers.
On June 19, 2009 Fred was united in marriage to Jean Solmon in Crookston, MN. The couple made their home in Red Lake Falls.
He enjoyed fishing, trapping, camping, wood work, bird watching, listening to music, volunteering, drawing pictures, flea markets, trashing bees, building bird houses and had a green thumb.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Solmon Hagl of Red Lake Falls; two children, Alfred Hagl Jr. and Louella (Duffy) Solberg; grandson, Steven Solberg all of Thief River Falls; brothers and sisters, Joseph (Pat) Hagl, Harvey Hagl, Leonard Pete Hagl, Elizabeth (James) Sauve and Margaret (Harold) Kehn all of Red Lake Falls, MN; sister-in-law, Clairice Vickery of St. Paul, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Theresa (Elmer) Cardinal and Josephine (John) DeHaan; half-brother, James Vickery; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Judy.
