Alice Keck, 94 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at North Star Manor in Warren, MN.
The service to celebrate Alice's life will be 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Alice Geving was born January 16, 1927, to the parents of Martin and Petrina (Burstad) Geving near Goodridge, MN. She was an only child. She went to country school by Goodridge then finished her schooling at the AC in Crookston.
She worked at Northern State Bank in Thief River Falls where she met her future husband, John Keck. They were married November 18 th , 1947. They made their home on a farm near Goodridge and started a family. They were blessed with two red headed girls, seven years apart, Donna and Diane.
Around 1960, they moved to Thief River Falls and bought the King Koin & Maytag Laundromat. There they worked side by side until retiring.
Alice was an avid sewer, always sewing something. She enjoyed crocheting. She also baked, making the best home-made buns, bread, donuts and of course cookies. The grandkids went to grandma's cookie drawer first. They bought a lake cabin at Lake Sarah; lots of good memories. Alice loved watching the grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.
Alice was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
After John's passing in 1997, Alice moved to Warren, MN to an apartment to be near her daughter, Diane. She would drive to Thief River Falls to go dancing at the Senior Center, how she loved to dance.
As her memory and eyesight was failing, she moved to Minnesota Greenleaf in Thief River Falls. Then back to Warren due to failing health where she passed away peacefully at North Star Manor. Alice is now with her husband, John again. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include daughters, Donna (Tom) Wachsmuth of Hinckley, MN and Diane Johnson of Warren, MN; grandchildren, Sean (Laura) Wachsmuth, Brad Johnson, Bret Wachsmuth, Chris Johnson; great-grandchildren, Karson Johnson, Ella Wachsmuth, Thomas Wachsmuth, Everett Wachsmuth, Edward Wachsmuth, Chloe Johnson, McKenna Johnson; and many other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John and parents.
