Alice A. Kelley, 96, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM Friday, October 23, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Rev. Jonathan Dodson officiating. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in St. Paul, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, October 23, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Alice Anne Rundquist was born on March 3, 1913 to Frank and Anna (Eckstrom) Rundquist on the family farm north of Lancaster, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Lancaster, MN. Alice graduated from Lancaster High School in 1931, and got her Teachers Degree from Moorhead State Teachers College in 1935. She taught for a time at North Star Country School, rural Lancaster.

Alice was united in marriage to James H. Kelley on June 24, 1937 in St. Paul, MN. They made their home in St. Paul, MN and to this union three children were born, Jim, Sally and Steve. They lived there for their entire married life. James passed away on October 8, 1990.

Alice sold her house in October, 1997 and lived for a short time with her son, Jim in Plummer, MN, moving to Peoria, AZ in January, 1998 to live with her daughter, Sally. Alice and Sally moved to Plummer, MN in July 2009.

In her earlier years, Alice enjoyed doing needlework, baking, reading, working crossword puzzles and was very active in Hope Lutheran Church in St. Paul. After the children were born, Alice remained home with them and she had great pride and joy in raising the kids. She was in her 80s and Alice would go to her son Steves house to take care of two preschool grandkids.

Alice is survived by her three children, Jim (Judy) Kelley of Plummer, MN, Sally Kelley of Plummer, MN and Steve (Marilyn) Kelley of Maplewood, MN; grandchildren, James (Angie) Kelley, Jeff Kelley, Jared (Jenny) Kelley all of Plummer, MN, Casey Kelley at Penn. State in PA, Dan Kelley of Maplewood, MN; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Josh, Jade, Jakob, Jenessa, Jalayna and Jalizah Kelley all of Plummer; special niece, Susan Broitman of Longwood, FL; and brother-in-law, Maitland Kelley of Mesa, AZ.

Along with her parents and husband, Alice is preceded in death by her sisters, Myrtle and Freda; brothers, Oscar, Barney, Ernie and Palmer; and grandson, Jack Kelley.
