Alice May (Hagen) Nissen 85, Forest Lake, MN, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center, Wyoming, MN.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM a Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Ale Tulu Officiating. Burial will be held at Silverton Cemetery rural Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM with a 6:00 PM Prayer Service on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.  Visitation will also take place one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday at Zion Lutheran Church.

Alice May Hagen was born September 9, 1932, St. Francis Township, Anoka, MN, the daughter of Arthur Murtin and Hattie O'veida (Hanson) Hagen.  She attended school at Anoka-Hennepin school district.

Alice was united in marriage to Leo (Lote) Nissen on October 14, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church Thief River Falls, Minnesota. They made their home in Princeton, Anoka, Coon Rapids, Osseo, and Fosston Minnesota before moving to Chisago Lakes in 2001, where she has lived till her death.

Alice was always willing to help others, loving of family and friends, believed that hard work created success, and taught her children to do the same.  Alice was a very special role model.  She will be missed by all the people's lives she touched.

She is survived by children, Catherine Wilson, Clinton, UT, Diane (Ed) Kaiser, Forest Lake, MN and Lonny (Deb) Nissen, Badger, MN; sisters, Violet Bechold, Vivian (Roger) Johnson; 20 grandchildren, Stephanie Chapman, Brian( Sadie) Wilson, Jamie Wilson, Paul (Kaycee ) Wilson, Chris (Luanne) Eide, Darren Eide, Trisha Finney, Mike (Sonja) Kaiser, Laurie (Eric) Sund, Darian (Jacob) Hannemann, Jeremy (Jennifer) Swanson, Jasen (Colette) Swanson, Justin (Amanda) Swanson, Chad (Marni) Nissen, Mark Nissen, Andy (Grace) Nissen, Jody Dahlen, Matt (Monica) Prude, Alicia Nissen, Tasha Nissen; 51 great- grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by husband Leo Nissen; sons, Richard and Rodney Nissen; siblings, Arthur "Bucky" Hagen, Clifford Hagen and Lorraine Troy, brother-in-law, Roger Behold, granddaughter, Sarah Nissen; granddaughter, Laurie Susan Wilson; granddaughter, September Dawn; great-grandson, Taylor Drew Wilson; and great-granddaughter, Eliska Rose Hannemann.
