Alice Roos, 86, died on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at MeritCare Northwest Hospital, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be 2:00, Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Merrill Kindall officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the church.

Alice Marian Roos was born January 21, 1922 at Duluth, MN to Alexander and Anna (Bloom) Roos. She moved to Thief River Falls with her parents at an early age. Attending school in Thief River Falls, she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940. She attended teachers training and taught school, later receiving her bachelors degree from Bemidji State College. In addition to teaching at one-room country schools, she taught in Alvarado, MN and then many years in Braham, MN, before retiring in the late 70s and moving home to Thief River Falls.

Alice was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Thief River Falls and had a strong faith, good humor, and enjoyed nature. She enjoyed writing letters to her friends and relatives and paid special attention to punctuation and spelling.

She lived at Valley Home in Thief River Falls for 10 years and the past 14 years at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN.

Alice is survived by one sister-in-law, Ruth Roos, Grand Forks, ND, and 13 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Palmer Roos and Lester Roos, and one sister, Stella Werner.
