Obituary

Allan Paulson, 94 of Thief River Falls, MN passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

The service to celebrate Allan's life will be at 6:00 PM Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Kristin Ostercamp officiating. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Sunday. Military honors will be provided by the Ecklund-Holmstrom American Legion Post 117, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793 and Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.

Allan Christ Paulson was born October 31, 1927 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Roman and Amelia (Reitz) Paulson. He was raised in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1945.  Following high school, Allan enlisted into service with the United States Army. He specialized in the anti-aircraft artillery. He was Honorably Discharged in 1946 at the rank of Private and returned to Thief River Falls.

Allan was blessed with a loving and successful marriage. On July 16, 1950, Allan was united in marriage to his one and only love, Millicent F. Rondorf in Thief River Falls, MN.  To this union five children were born, Larry, Geraldine, Jerry, Linda and June.  The family lived for a time in Glenwood, MN and in the mid-1960's made their home in Thief River Falls, where they have continued to reside. He was a Minnesota State Grain Inspector for 40 years.

A natural shooter and hunter, Allan loved the outdoors and going for drives in the country and through Agassiz National Wildlife Refuge was one of his many passions.  Most days he was tinkering in the garage on various projects or reading in his favorite chair or looking out the window at the river. Allan worked throughout his life to provide for family. He also offered advice to whoever asked.

Allan's interests include visiting with family and friends, deer hunting, goose and duck hunting, was an avid fisherman (spearfishing or casting), archery deer hunting, bowfishing, enjoyed boat rides, tinkering, fixing, & repairing, always enjoyed reading, wrestling (he was a champion in high school & still enjoys watching it on TV), coffee breaks at home and going out for a meal.

He was a MN Firearms Safety Instructor. Allan was an active member of the Ecklund-Holmstrom American Legion Post 117 where he was a past Post Commander. He was also a member of the American Legion 40 & 8 Association, Pennington County Sportsmen Club, MN Deer Hunters Association, National Rifle Association, TRF Coin Club and TRF Trap Club.

Survivors include his children, Larry (Marian) Paulson of Thief River Falls, MN, Geraldine "Geri" (Wayne) Stavenes of Thief River Falls, MN, Jerry (Michelle "Bucket") Paulson of Detroit Lakes, MN, June (Jon) Sundberg of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren, Brandy (Kjell) Johnsrud, Kelly (Jose) Martinez, Sheena (Justin) Esparza, Bruce Carter, Summer Day (Brett) Brockman, Nicholas (Katie) Paulson; great-grandchildren, Bailey Johnsrud, Brooks Johnsrud, Alexis Eubanks, Mason Perfecto, Ariana Esparza, Jaxon Esparza, Bree Brockman, Kenzie Brockman, Jace Brockman; great-great grandchild, Angel Eubanks, Kirk Roman; along with many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Millicent in 2017; daughter, Linda in 1960; great-grandson, Isaac Eubanks; parents; and siblings, Roman Paulson, George Paulson, Tillie Gebhardt, and Marion Mostrom.
