Allen Jack Warne, 88, of Grygla, MN died on Saturday, June 4, 2005 at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.
Allen Jay Warne was born May 27, 1917 at Grygla, MN son of the late Jesse and Mabel (Standish) Warne. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla.
Allen attended country school in the Grygla and Gatzke area and at the age of 12 moved to Indiana where they lived until returning to Grygla in 1934. He played baseball for the Grygla baseball team for many years. He played 3rd base and center field. Allen met the love of his live at a dance in Fourtown and on November 12, 1939 he was united in marriage to Penelope Elizabeth Rogers near Fourtown. The couple made their home near Grygla then to Northwood Township where they had a small crop and dairy farm from 1944 to 1980. They retired and moved east of Grygla where they have lived since.
Allen and Penelope enjoyed dancing and have been married for 65 years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, talking, harmonica, guitar, and playing cards with his friends. He received the Dairymans Award and the Soil Conservation Award.
He is survived by his wife Penelope of Grygla, MN; four children: Lorraine (Norman) Stenvik of Goodridge, MN, Darrel (Sophie) Warne of Badger, MN, Lowell (Jean) Warne of Grygla, MN and Debbie (Ralph) Cox of Menahga, MN. 13 grandchildren: Lynn, Aysun, Scott (Gwen), Bradley (Lou), Randy (Dawn), Arlen (Kelly), Dion (Laura), Stacey (Heidi), Kent (Lori), Rick (Melanie), Kevin (Lisa), Kristi (Fianc Craig Wawrzyniak), Justin and Jessica; 18 great grandchildren and one sister Irene Tollefson of Minneapolis, MN.
Allen is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers Gilbert, Delos, Ray and Robert; twin sister Alice Nordby and grandson Keith Stenvik.
