Obituary

Alma Larson, 93, died Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, May 12, 2006 at Black River Lutheran Church, rural St. Hilaire, MN with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be at Black River Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Thursday, May 11, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service, Red Lake Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Friday.

Alma Kristine Troland was born September 2, 1912 at Gatzke, MN, the daughter of Mons and Anna (Brekke) Troland. She was baptized at the parents home, Gatzke and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN. She attended country school near Gatzke.

On October 19, 1930, Alma was united in marriage to Roy Larson at her parents home at Gatzke. The couple lived on a farm called Nopers. Roy and Alma purchased their farm near Red Lake Falls in 1939 Roy passed away in November of 1991. Alma moved into Red Lake Falls in the fall of 1997 and into Hillcrest Nursing Home in August of 2002.

Alma was a member of Black River Lutheran Church, rural St. Hilaire, MN, served as president for the Ladies Aid for many years, served on the Altar Guild and was Superintendent of Sunday School for many years also. She enjoyed ceramics, knitting, crocheting, embroidering, gardening and fishing. She especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Alma survived by children, Darlene (Sy) Lucas, Alexandria, MN, Dionne (Louis) Ulrich, Red Lake Falls, MN, Richard (Phyllis) Larson, Red Lake Falls, MN and Sharon (Charles) Naplin, Thief River Falls, MN; 21 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by husband, Roy; sons, Leonard and Gerald; grandsons, Rick Ulrich and infant grandson Orrin; infant granddaughter, Roxanne; sisters, Nilda Kezar, Betsy Gaines, Esther Johnson, Mabel Moss, Susie Skjervin and Minnie Stene; brothers, Alfred, Sam and Martin Troland, sons in law, Louis Cassavant, Dennis Kuester.
