Alton Guzek, 65 of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, MN.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, February 13, 1999 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.
Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5 " 8 PM with a 8:00 PM prayer service at the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Alton Joseph Guzek was born November 21, 1933 at Dorothy, MN son of Albin and Cecilia (Cota) Guzek. Alton was baptized and confirmed at the St. Dorothy Catholic Church in Dorothy, MN. He graduated from the Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls. On June 8, 1963 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Bishop at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. Alton worked at the Red Lake Falls Silo Company and later for American Crystal in Crookston Retiring in February of 1993. He served in the US Army receiving an honorable discharge.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Red Lake Falls American Legion Post. He enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends and relatives, he also enjoyed taking the kids to the lake and fishing.
Alton is survived by his wife Phyllis Guzek of Red Lake Falls, MN: sons Paul Guzek and special friend Kathy Flickinger of Brainerd, MN; Tom Guzek (Lisa) of St. Cloud, MN and Kevin Guzek of Brainerd, MN: daughter Peggy Guzek of Thief River Falls, MN: grandchildren Christopher Crawford and Nicholas Guzek. Brothers Clarence Guzek (Lorraine) of Thief River Falls, MN; Joseph Guzek (Joyanne) of Silver Springs, MD and Louie Guzek (Nancy) of Detroit Lakes, MN: sisters Rosemary Stuckey of Crookston, MN and Jeanette Guzek of Coon Rapids, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother in law Clarence and Isabelle Bishop, brothers in law Wilbur Bishop and Harry Evert, brother and sister in law Bill and Mary Sorn, sister in law Delma Bishop and great nephews Steve Remillard and Nathan Guzek.
