Obituary

Alvin Fore, 93, died on Tuesday, August 13, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 17, 2002 at Oak Park Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, MN with Reverend Joseph Abrahamson officiating. Burial will be in Clearwater Cemetery, rural Oklee, MN.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, August 16, 2002 at Johnson Funeral Home in Oklee, MN.

Alvin Ole Fore was born on June 18, 1909 in Equality Township, Red Lake County, MN to Herman and Emma (Legvold) Lillo. At a very early age his mother died and Alvin moved in with Nels and Ida Fore. They made their home in Equality Township and he attended Country School and one year in Fosston. He helped his Uncle Nels build roads and clear land in Red Lake County. He began farming at a young age also.

He married Gladys Evelyn Fossum on March 17, 1934. The couple made their home on the farm in Equality Township. They continued farming until his early 80s. Gladys died in 1977.

He moved to Thief River Falls in 1981 and lived at Gunderson Court. He moved into Valley Home for four years before moving into CNC in January of 1999.

He enjoyed farming and spent hours with the Farmers Union. He also enjoyed hunting deer.

Alvin was a member of Clearwater Lutheran Church and served on the Oklee Elevator Board for a few years. He also served on the Town Board in his younger days. Alvin was president of the local and the county Farmers Union.

Alvin is survived by four children: Joyce (Eldon) Larson of St. Hilaire, MN, Barbara (Ray) Swenson of Brooks, MN, Arlan (special friend Sheryl Wilde) of Oklee, MN and Judy Johnson of Lake Bronson, MN; 11 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; three brothers: Norman Lillo of Duluth, MN, Milo (Shirley) Lillo of Duluth, MN and Renaldo (Arlene) Lillo of Green Bay, WI; two sisters: Leona Via of Oklee, MN and Ardith (Harold) Kessler of Oklee, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Gladys; three brothers: Morris Lillo, Obert Lillo and Eldore Lillo.
