Alvin Peterson, 81, of Gonvick, MN died Monday, March 3, 2003 at Good Samaritan Center, Clearbrook, MN.

Alvin Peterson was born May 10, 1921 at McIntosh, MN son of the late Sam and Annie (Gunderson) Peterson. He was raised and attended rural School near Oklee, MN. He entered the US Army on Sept. 5, 1942 at Fort Snelling and served overseas taking part in the D-Day Invasion. Alvin was honorable discharged on Sept. 28, 1945 and returned to Oklee where he worked for Earl Woods. In 1965 he moved to Gonvick where he was a farmhand for Ed Vinje and Vernon Johnson until his retirement. Alvin was a companion to Anna Vinje for many years.
His hobbies included gardening and visiting with his neighbors and family and was a man of his word. Alvin was a member of the VFW in Trail.
Alvin is survived by his step-children Mark Vinje of Crookston and Margaret Erdmann of Moorhead, MN: 3 sisters Gladys (Don) Snyder of Crookston, MN; Mildred (Dale) Howard of Staples, MN and Lydia Skarsten of St. Paul, MN: many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Sam and Annie Peterson and his companion Anna Vinje.
