Alvin Rondorf, 84, died Sunday, May 11, 2008 at MeritCare Northwest Campus in Thief River Falls, MN.


Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, May 15, 2008 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Mark Helgeland officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, St. Hilaire, MN.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Thursday.

Alvin Rondorf was born March 6, 1924 on the family farm in Rocksbury Township to William and Marie (Anton) Rondorf. Alvins mother died when he was 4 years old and he went to live with his Maternal Grandparents for a short time. He attended Riverside School to the 8th grade and went on from there to the St. Hilaire School, where he graduated. After graduating, he farmed with his father for a number of years.

Alvin married Mildred Benston, October 14, 1950. He was a grain farmer and milked cows. He also worked various other jobs in Thief River Falls through out his life. Alvin was a life time member of Redeemer Lutheran Church; he served on the Thief River Falls Creamery board and was a member of the Eagles Club.

Alvin and Mildred loved to dance to old time music and made many long time friends at these dances. In their retirement years, they traveled to many different destinations along with their friends on the Carpenter Charter Bus service from Thief River Falls.

He is survived by wife, Mildred Rondorf, Thief River Falls, MN; son, Ronald (Jodie) Rondorf, Thief River Falls, MN; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene (Edna) Rondorf, Thief River Falls, MN, Leonard Rondorf, Thief River Falls, MN, Rallie (Kathy) Rondorf, Brooklyn Center, MN, William Jr. (Brunelle) Rondorf, Thief River Falls, MN; sisters, Deloris Gulley, Portland, OR; Millicent (Alan) Paulson, Thief River Falls, MN, Ardellis (Marvin) Hemple, Portland, OR, Beverly (Martin) Baker, Valliant, OK and Sylvia (Chuck) Wilcox, Sherwood, AR; daughter-in-law, Joetta Rondorf, Red Lake Falls, MN; brother-in-law, Herb Goethe, Erskine, MN; sister-in-law, Olive Rondorf, Thief River Falls, MN and many nieces and nephews.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, William and Marie Rondorf; stepmother, Matilda Rondorf; son, Roger Rondorf; sisters, Marcella Jorde and Blanch Goethe; brother, Laverne Rondorf; brothers-in-law, Clifford Jorde and Ron Gulley; sister-in-law, Sylvia Rondorf.
