Alvina "Toots" Johnson Fosston, MN age 83 passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Sand Valley Lutheran Church in Trail, MN with Rev. Joseph Abrahamson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery, rural McIntosh, MN. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Thursday at the church. Alvina Charlotte Christianson was born on November 29, 1929 at rural Trail, MN in Chester Township of Polk County, MN to parents, Carl J. and Alma (Grover) Christianson. In 1931, the family moved to a farm in Hill River Township. Alvina attended the Ridgelawn School (Dist. 200) and graduated from Fosston High School in 1947. She attended the Teachers Train Dept. in Thief River Falls, MN and taught at the Oakland and Ridgelawn Schools. On June 9, 1951 she was united in marriage to Percival (Percy) Johnson of rural Fosston, MN. They made their home on his farm in Hill River Township where they raised mink and beef cattle for a number of years. Later they did small grain farming until renting out the land in 1995. They continued living on the farm where they enjoyed many hobbies. Percy passed away on July 13, 2003. Alvina attended Mt. Olive Church and was active in the Ladies Aide and Sunday School in previous years. Survivors include brother, Irvin (Ruby) Christianson of Trail, MN; aunt, Hazel Grover of Fosston, MN; nieces, Nikki (Tom) Robbins, Connie Hansen, Sue Nelson, Wanda (Joe) Manecke, Lynn Christianson and their families; nephews, David Beaudoin, Travis and Chad Christianson, Burl Johnson and their families; great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Eileen Christianson; and a number of cousins. She was preceded in death by husband, Percy; parents; sister, Carol Beaudoin; brothers, Duane and Wallace; nephew and Godchild, Scott Christianson.
