Alyce Olson, 87, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at her home in Thief River Falls.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend John Wollenzien officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at the Johnson Green Funeral Home, Thief River Falls, MN, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Alyce (van der Woude) Olson was born January 16, 1916 in St. Ann Parish, Netherlands to Andrew and Anna Katharine Marie (Horster) van der Woude. She emigrated to the United States with her parents when she was four years old. In 1934, she married Gerrit Tilstra. They had one daughter, Ann Marie. On November 11, 1953, she married Frank Olson. They had two daughters, Barbara and Betty. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1963, where they made their home.

Alyce was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she shared many happy hours making quilts. Alyce worked as a housekeeper for a number of local residents over the years and also worked as a custodian at Lincoln High School.

Survived by daughters, Ann Marie (Herman) Oostenink, Mountain Home, AR, Barbara Lynn (Phillip) Kotta, Warroad, MN, Betty Ann (fianc, Curtis Carpenter) Peterson, Thief River Falls, MN; six grandchildren, Debra (James) Anderson, Andover, MN, Roxanne (Greg) Dowling, Indianapolis, IN, Steven Oostenink, Bismarck, ND, Jason Peterson, Bemidji, MN, Jarrod Peterson, Thief River Falls, MN and Alyce Kotta, Warroad, MN; seven great-grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Anderson, Isanti, MN, Lisa Anderson, Andover, MN, Stephanie and Stacie Oostenink, Fargo, ND, Jacob, Jessie and Marie McCoy all Indianapolis, IN and a sister, Ann Jorgenson, McMinnville, OR.

Preceded in death by husbands, Gerrit Tilstra, Henry Hasse and Frank Olson, sister Wilhelmina Billie Trygg and parents.
