Ambrose "Nick" Reese Ambrose "Nick" Reese, age 82 of Brooks, MN died on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Oakland Park Communities in Thief River Falls, MN. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Chuck Huck presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Brooks, MN. Military honors will be provided by the Red Lake Falls American Legion Post. Ambrose Nicholas Reese was born on January 28, 1930 in Badger, MN the son of William and Mary (Foster) Reese. He was baptized into the Catholic faith in Badger, MN and confirmed at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN. He attended St. Bernard's Elementary, Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls. In high school he played hockey on the same team with Ralph Engelstad. Nick entered into service on September 23, 1948 in Grand Forks, ND with the United States Navy. He served aboard several ships including the USS Laws and the USS Helena. He achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer and was Honorably Discharged on July 31, 1963. On February 18, 1955, he was united in marriage to Janet Louise McBride. The couple resided in Meriden for several years before settling and raising their children in Southington, CT. He was a supervisor for the machine shop at Pexto & Wilcox in Southington, CT. In 1980 they moved to Plainville, CT, and he became service manager for LVD Corporation, retiring in 1997. That same year they moved to St. Hilaire, MN. Nick was a member of the American Legion, Moose Club, VFW, and the Masons. He enjoyed stock car racing. For over 30 years he owned and drove the open-wheel modified #40 among many others. Nick also enjoyed horses, sport cars, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Nick was known to be a little bit ornery and set in his ways. Survivors include children, Rick (Sharon) Reese of St. Hilaire, MN, Dennis Reese of Brooks, MN, Greg (Billie) Reese of W. Hartford, CT and Karen (Ben Swendra) Hince of Red Lake Falls; grandchildren Eric Reese, David Reese, David Paradine, Norman Pelletier, Kayla Pelletier, Zachary Reese, Bailey Hince; great-granddaughter, Samantha Reese; brothers, Charles (Donna) Reese, James Reese, Matthew (Cheryl) Reese; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
