Andrew Lien, 88, of Thief River Falls, MN formerly of Greenbush, MN, died on Thursday, December 04, 2008 at Valley Home in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, December 6, 2008 at United Free Lutheran Church in Greenbush, MN with Rev. LeRoy Petersen officiating. Burial will be at United Free Bethania Lutheran Cemetery in Greenbush, MN in the spring.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM Friday at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at church.

Andrew Sam Lien was born June 25, 1919 on a farm in Skagen Township, Roseau County, MN, the son of Amund Gulbranson and Karen Ovidea (Lieshagon) Lien. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethania Lutheran Church, rural Greenbush, MN. He attended School District 1-A, rural Skagen School. In 1938, Andrew graduated from Greenbush High School.

He farmed the family farm and retired from farming in 1966. He built a log house near the farm house and moved there. In January 17, 1977, he moved into Thief River Falls, MN.

Andrew is survived by 3 sisters, Gladys Lien, Thief River Falls, MN, Hazel Carlson, Tallahassee, FL and Ada Eide, Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by parents; sister, Murle K. Lien, October 22, 2000; and one brother, Gilman.
