Andrew Ryan of Newfolden, MN passed away surrounded by his loving family unexpectedly on arrival at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral service for Andrew will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at New Hope Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN with Pastor Ollie Urdahl Officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at Poplar Lake Lutheran Cemetery near Fosston, MN.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until time of prayer service at 6:30 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Andy's family would like attendees to wear the color red or a flannel to the service, if they are able, to honor Andy with his favorite color and apparel.

Andrew James Ryan was born on September 12, 1985 at Little Falls, MN, the son of Steven and LeAnn (Kezar) Ryan. The family moved to Fosston in 1988 where he attended school and graduated with the class of 2004. Andy started working for Arctic Cat the fall of 2004 and was currently employed there at the time of his death.

On June 3, 2017 he was united in marriage to Jonette Swanson in Bagley, MN. The couple made their home at rural Newfolden where he happily took on the role of dad to Joni's 4 girls Bethany, Kaitlyn, Aubrey and Mikayla.

Andy enjoyed woodworking, fishing, golfing, playing poker, was a handyman. He was always willing to jump in and help family and friends. Family was very important to Andy. He had a special relationship with his nieces and nephew, especially Jasmine and Steven. Andy was also a proud godfather to Melanie.

Andy is survived by his wife Joni of Newfolden, MN; daughters Bethany (Fiancé Cameron King) Helmeke, Kaitlyn Helmeke, Aubrey Swanson and Mikayla Swanson; mother LeAnn Ryan of Fosston, MN; sisters Christi (Aaron) Zimmerman, of Warroad, MN, Sara (Austin) Walcker, of Fargo, ND; mother and father -in-law Lorrie (Randy) Nelson of Newfolden, MN, in-laws Chadrik Swanson of Crookston, MN, Carissa (Kelly Bates) McDougall of Ulen, MN, Nicholas Swanson of Newfolden, MN, Brandon (Ashley) Nelson of Newfolden, MN, Bud (Pascale) Nelson of Newfolden, MN, Tina (Chris) Lambert, Kristin (Brandon) Klade, Kassi (Craig) Redford; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Special brothers Josh Swenson and Brett Thyng.

Andy is preceded in death by his father Steven Ryan, father-in-law Irving "Lee" Swanson, God father Vernon Aune, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
