Obituary

Anna Marie Cardinal, 90, died on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, October 30, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Monsignor Roger Grundhaus presiding. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Brooks, MN.

Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 29, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with a 5:00 P.M. Prayer Service on Sunday evening and at the church for one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Anna Marie (Williams) Cardinal was born on November 14, 1915 in Hillsdale, Illinois, the daughter of John and Maria (Vervinckt) Williams. Anna was the eighth of ten children.

Anna was united in marriage to Ernest Cardinal on April 15, 1941. After their marriage they farmed in Red Lake Falls and Brooks. In 1972 they moved into Brooks.

She enjoyed playing scrabble, crossword puzzles, doing handicrafts, cooking and baking and Anna especially loved spending time with her family. Anna was a member of St. Annes Society, the Ladies Guild at church, a member of the Hollyhock Homemakers and she was on the board of the Senior Citizen Housing in Brooks. Anna was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Anna is survived by five children: Marie (John) Chopyk of Edina, MN, Carol A. Cardinal of Edina, MN, Donna (Orvis) Mossestad of Plummer, MN, Sharon (Bryon) Rosten of Plummer, MN and Robert (Anita) Cardinal of Thief River Falls, MN; seven grandchildren: Debra (Stacy) Buggle of Ft. Collins, CO, Dale (Taya) Mossestad of Shakopee, MN and Brad Mossestad of Shakopee, MN, Aaron (Fiance, Peni Tastad)Rosten of Grand Forks, ND, Catherine (Jermiah) Johnson of Oklee, MN, Tracy (Jeff) Haack of Shoreview, MN, and Andrew J. Cardinal of Thief River Falls, MN; three great grandchildren, Sadie Ann Buggle and Scout Joseph Buggle of Ft. Collins, CO and Jennifer Carley Johnson of Oklee, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, of 63 years, on September 7, 2004; her parents; three brothers and six sisters.
