Anna Hanson, 97, died on Friday, February 22, 2008 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at St. Pauli Lutheran Church, Hazel area, with Pastor Gary Gilthvedt officiating. Burial will be at Valle Cemetery in Grygla, MN.

Anna S. (Arne) Hanson was born on the family farm on November 9, 1910 near Grygla, MN to Andrew Arne and Martha (Hanson) Arne. She attended school to the eighth grade in Beltrami County, near Grygla.

Anna married Manuel Hanson on July 12, 1930 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Crookston, MN. To this union 9 children were born. Their first son Harry (Sonny) died at two years of age and son Dale in 1977. They farmed many years in the Grygla area until 1952, and then moved to the Hazel area until 1960 when they moved to Thief River Falls and lived on Tindolph Ave. South. Anna did several babysitting jobs, and then went to work at Northwest Medical Center. In her few trips to the hospital, she found several employees who remembered her. No matter where she moved, she managed to have flowers in and around their home.

She was a member of St. Pauli Lutheran Church for many years and was active in the Ladies Aid. She would tell how they were so good to remember her every holiday and memorable date. The Skylight Apartments became their home in 1991 and no one had more company then Manuel and Anna. She mostly enjoyed her grandchildren, reading, and the many friends and relatives that came to visit. Nephew, Donny Nomeland was especially good to his Aunt Anna. Her eyesight and hearing became a real challenge the last few years but, she always kept a cherry nature and always said, Im hanging in there . Anna said she was ready to go home and she will be sadly missed.

Anna is survived by daughter, Marjorie Adamson of Goodridge, MN; sons: DuWayne (Ruth) of Backus, MN, Harvey of Thief River Falls, MN, Dennis of Thief River Falls, MN, Roger of Thief River Falls, MN, Lyle of St. Hilaire, MN, and Richard of Red Lake Falls, MN; 31 grandchildren; 65 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; sister, Jennie Wilsey of Traverse City, MI; nephews: Wayne Wilsey (Alice) of Saginaw, MI, Harold Wilsey (Tanna) of Traverse City, MI, Alan Arne of Phoenix, AZ, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives in Norway.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel; sons: Harry and Dale; her parents; one grand son in law; one son-in-law; 6 daughters-in-law; brothers: Alfred, Harold, and Irvin, an infant sister, Irene; two grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and one niece.
