Anna Schumacher, 95, died peacefully on Saturday, June 11, 2005 at Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, June 17, 2005 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Brooks, MN with Father Tim Bushy presiding. Burial will be at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, Plummer, MN.

Visitation will be 4 " 8 PM, Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church, Friday.

Anna Jaeger was born April 8, 1910 in Pierz, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Margaret (Sontag) Jaeger, where she was baptized in the Catholic Faith. The family moved to Plummer, MN, where she was confirmed at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and attended the Plummer school.

In 1943, while employed as a cook on the Melgaard farm near Warren, she met her future husband, William Schumacher, also employed at the farm. They were united in marriage on February 9, 1944 in Plummer. They made their home near Plummer, had three daughters, and operated a small dairy farm while Bill hauled milk to the Plummer Creamery for the area farmers. In 1965 her husband was stricken with cancer, and Anna took over the responsibility of the dairy operation along with taking care of her husband at home until his death six months later. After her girls graduated from high school Anna sold the cows and went to work as a Nurses Aid at Oakland Park Nursing Home. She worked there 18 years until her retirement in 1987.

Anna spent her retirement years living in her own home on the family farm with her youngest daughter and her family. She loved to work on hooked rugs and made sequenced and beaded calendars every year for her daughters. Her nephews took her with when they traveled throughout the States. She especially enjoyed the flight around the Statue of Liberty in a small plane, piloted by her nephew. Most of all, she loved staying with each of her daughters and helping with the children, gardening, and cooking, especially when there was another grandchild on the way. She was very proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Anna returned to Oakland Park Nursing Home in October, 2003; this time as a resident. She was no stranger there. She remembered her co-workers, either still working or they themselves residents. Anna spent her life taking care of other people in their time of need. It is only befitting that she enjoyed good health up until the time she tired and knew it was time to go.

Annas life was her family and her church. She was a member of St. Anns Society, Christian Mothers, and was President of St. Vincent de Paul Ladies Guild.

Survived by daughters, Carolyn (George) Pittman, Goodridge, MN, Susan (Steven) Sundberg, Grygla, MN and Madonna (Louis) Lallier, Plummer, MN; 13 grandchildren, Ruthie Forst, Tom, Mike and Amy Pittman, Jonathon, David and Jennifer Sundberg, Julie Fenning, Andrew, Matthew and James Lallier, Anna Mae Christensen and Sylvia Majeres; 12 great grandchildren, Kody and Davis Forst, Timothy, Marcus and Sarah Christensen, Chandler Grindeland, Mike Pittman, Jacob Sundberg, Julia Lillier, Shayla and Zadin Lallier and Shawna Majeres; and sister-in-law, Martha Blake, Devils Lakes, ND.

Preceded in death by husband, William, grandson, Joseph Lallier, great grandson, Christopher Majeres, mother and father, sisters, Mary Langer and Barbara Gerardy; brothers, Nick, Matt, Frank, Ted and Gust Jaeger.
