Obituary

Annabelle Victoria Johnson was born on May 4, 1927 in Middle River Village, the daughter of Victor and Stella (Gram) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. She attended White Ford Township School and grew to adulthood on the Family Farm near Thief Lake.

Annabelle was united in marriage to Kenneth Nelson on June 28, 1944. Following their marriage the couple ran the Grocery Store in Newfolden a few years. Then they moved to Marion Caters Farm near Middle River, where Kenny worked for a couple years. Next they moved into Middle River, where Kenny managed the Service Station. Annabelle was a Homemaker and raised their six children while Kenny worked road construction. Through the summers the family stayed together in the many states Kenny was working, including Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming and Colorado. Eventually they moved to Sauk Centre, MN, where they stayed and had a Hobby farm for 4 ½ years. Kenny and Annabelle then settled in Strathcona. The couple lived in Rothsay for a short time while Kenny was doctoring in Fargo.

Annabelle worked several years at Northern Pride Turkey Plant in Thief River Falls. She enjoyed spending time with grandkids and great grandkids, gardening, bird watching, knitting, crocheting, watching TV, making quilts and driving with Kenny. She loved her plants, baking, especially bread and sewed many of her kids clothes.

Annabelle is survived by four children: Margaret Erickson of Elk River, MN, Howard Nelson of Washington, Carol Wappula of Strathcona, MN and Kathy (Gary) Johnson of Fergus Falls, MN; 15 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Eddie (Judy) Johnson of Middle River, MN; two sisters: Amay Jesme of Moorhead, MN and Ginger (Bruce) Smith of Colfax, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two children: Dwight and Dale; her husband, Kenny in 1997; one brother, Robert; one grandson, Rett Erickson; and her parents.
