Anne Mary Bendel, 97 of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Chuck Huck Officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Red Lake Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Anne Mary Bendel was born March 2, 1916 daughter of the late Harry and Genevieve (Prenevost) LaRoche at Euclid, MN. She lived in the Euclid area for a short time before moving into Red Lake Falls with her family. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated from Lafayette High School in 1935. On February 28, 1949 she was united in marriage to Balsey William Bendel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple purchased a home in Red Lake Falls where she has continued to live until August of 2013 when she moved into Hillcrest Senior Living in Red Lake Falls, MN. Anne worked for many years as secretary at the Red Lake County Court house. Balsey passed away March 26, 1993. Anne enjoyed her flower garden, watching birds and loved her kitty. She is survived by her son, Jerry Bendel of Red Lake Falls, MN; grandchildren, Chris Norman of Thief River Falls, MN and Lisa (Glade) Platts of Hailey, ID; great-grandchildren, Megan Platts, Rayne Norman, Shea Norman and Reid Norman, along with several nieces and nephews. Anne is preceded in death by her parents, husband Balsey, daughter Barbara Rahn, son-in-law Larry Rahn, grandson Wayne Rahn and sisters Arlene VonWald, Clara Murphy and Margaret Schmidt; step-brothers Phillip LaBlanc and Joe LaBlanc and step-sister Fedilise Strom.
