Anthony "Tony" David DeMarais, 60, of Fargo, ND formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND with his loving family at his side. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM with a 5:00 PM funeral service on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Pastor Joel Kangas officiating. Anthony David DeMarais was born on April 8, 1955 the son of Leonard and Dora (Braaten) DeMarais. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. He attended school in Red Lake Falls and graduated from Lafayette High School with the class of 1973. Tony worked his summers on a road construction crew. Following high school, Tony attended Northland Community College in Thief River Falls, MN where he was a star hockey player. After two years of college, Tony returned to Red Lake Falls to work at Detroiter. In 1981, Tony met Karen Kangas, who worked at the Headquarters in Red Lake Falls. From 1981 through 1983, Tony attended Wadena Area Vocational-Technical Institute where he graduated and received his diploma in Telephone Service Technology. Following graduation, Tony was hired by MCI Telecommunications as a Fiber Optic Specialist. On March 3, 1984, Tony was united in marriage to Karen Kangas in Erskine, MN. The welcomed their first born son, Caleb, and then couple made their home in Zion, IL where they lived for 3 ½ years. In 1988, they moved with their two sons, Caleb and Samuel to Fargo, ND where Tony went to work for Sprint. Two more children were born into this family, Lydia and Marc. After his employment with Sprint, Tony worked for the Fargo Public Schools. Tony enjoyed watching and playing hockey and golf. He loved anything to do with his children and their activities whether it be baseball, dance, hockey or soccer. Survivors include his children, Caleb Glenn DeMarais (31) of Tokyo, Japan, Sam Leonard (Alex) DeMarais (27) of Fargo, ND, Lydia Ruth DeMarais (24) of Kansas City, MO, and Marc David DeMarais (21) of Fargo, ND; mother of his children, Karen Kangas DeMarais of Fargo, ND; sisters, Mary DeMarais of Bemidji, MN and Donna (Mike) Parenteau of Walla Walla, WA; and his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom Tony was so fond of.
