Ardith Mae Johnson, 73, of Thief River Falls died Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Thief River Care Center.

A Memorial Service will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. There will be visitation starting at 9:00 am Thursday morning at the funeral home.

Ardith was born June 12, 1934 in Norden Township, Pennington County, MN to Albert Walter (Mostel) Johnson and Helma Sophie (Grindland) Johnson. She was Baptized and Confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1952. Ardith worked as Deputy Clerk of Courts, Pennington Co for 10 years. In 1966 she was appointed by the Honorable H.O. Chommie as Clerk of Court to fill the vacancy of Henry Storhaug and was subsequently elected twice to that position. Ardith was appointed and served as Clerk of District Court of the Ninth Judicial District and held that position until her retirement in 1993.

Ardith served as Secretary of the Ninth Judicial District Clerk of Courts, Board Member of Penn. Co. Municipal Employees Credit Union, Member of Business & Professional Womens Club, Served as Treasure of Thief River Falls Bicentennial Committee, Member of the Sons of Norway & Life Member of VFW Auxiliary.

Ardith is survived by her Brother, Wendell Johnson & Sister-in-Law Sharen of Le Mars, IA., 2 Nephews; Tyler Johnson and his wife Lisa of Des Moines, IA. & David Brault & his wife Amy of Durand, MI. One Niece; Barbara McCollum and her husband Dan of Vernon, MI. Ardith was Great Aunt to Thomas McCollum, Jeromy, Kris, & Allen Witty and Olivia & Evan Brault all of Michigan. She is also survived by many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters; Lois Gunning Fekete, Fairbanks Alaska and Marion Brault, Durand MI. A niece Debbie Gunning Pilcher and a nephew Michael Brault.
