OBITUARY FOR ARLEN OVERBYE
LAKEVILLE formerly of THIEF RIVER FALLS, MINNESOTA
JOHNSON-GREEN FUNERAL SERVICE, THIEF RIVER FALLS, MN

Arlen Overbye, 53, died on Saturday, November 8, 2003 in rural Goodridge while deer hunting.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, November 12, 2003 at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 11, 2003, 5 " 8 PM at Johnson Green Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

Arlen Curtis Overbye was born on January 31, 1950 in Thief River Falls, MN to Harvey L. and Esther J. (Dahle) Overbye. He grew up in Thief River Falls attending Washington Elementary School and graduating from Lincoln High School in 1968. Arlen entered the US Army in 1969 serving his country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1971.

Arlen was united in marriage to Jill Ann Holmstrom in 1972 and to this union two daughters were born. They lived their first four years in Forest Lake, MN before moving to Thief River Falls in 1977. He worked for North Star Transport in operations and dispatching.

Arlen was united in marriage to Barbara Cookie Diane Joppru on September 14, 1985. The couple made their home in Lakeville, MN. He was currently employed by Overbye Transport as their safety director.

Arlen loved to be with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, NASCAR, golfing, and going to the lake. Arlen loved to be a practical joker and had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Cookie , Lakeville, MN; two daughters: Heather Dickson, Thief River Falls, MN; Jenny Overbye, Thief River Falls, MN; stepson Shane McNatton, Fargo, ND; mother and stepfather, Esther Donald and Anderson, Thief River Falls, MN; Granddaughter, Haley Dickson, two grandsons: Quinten Moulds, Blaine Kriel; six brothers: Harold (Arlene) Overbye, Lakeville, MN; Mark Anderson, Newfolden, MN; Palmer (Ardell) Overbye, Tavarres, FL; Alvin (Doris) Overbye, Elk River, MN; Art (Darleen) Overbye, Milwaukee, WI; George (fianc, Pam) Overbye, Harris, MN; three sisters: Delores Toody (Lyndon) Minske, Hallock, MN; Karen (David) Johnson, Dayton, MN, Jody (Ryan) Harger, Chesterville, Ohio.

Preceded in death by his Dad, Grandparents, 3 uncles and nephews.
