Arlene Cook, 83, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Arlene E. Sorenson was born on April 29, 1923 in the Family Home in Newfolden, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Anna (Stamness) Sorenson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden, MN and attended school in Newfolden.
Arlene was united in marriage to Burton Theron Cook on May 3, 1941 in Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Spruce Valley Township, Marshall County, MN and farmed. For a number of years they traveled doing road construction. When Arlene and Burton moved to Thief River Falls she went to work for Winjums Hartz Supermarket. The name was later changed to Dwights Hartz Market and Arlene worked there for over 25 years.
She enjoyed watching TV, especially the Minnesota Twins. In her later years, Arlene loved spending time with her sister, Susy. In her earlier years she enjoyed quilt making and embroidery. Arlene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.
Arlene is survived by two sisters: Mavis Anderson of LaPeunte, CA and Betty Susy Olson of Thief River Falls, MN; two sisters-in-law: June Barrow of Thief River Falls, MN and Jean Sorenson of Thief River Falls, MN; two brothers-in-law, Orville Skadsem of Thief River Falls, MN and Edgar Benson of Montana; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Burton in 1990; brothers and sisters: Omer Sorenson, Howard Sorenson, Donna Mae Sorenson, Shirley Benson and Marion Skadsem.
