Obituary

Arlene F. Erickson, 61, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker, Ph.D. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the church. Arlene Fidelis Copeland was born on August 24, 1950 in Northwood, ND the daughter of Roy J. and Elizabeth O. (Johnson) Copeland. Arlene was baptized into the Christian faith in Northwood, ND and her family moved to Rosewood, MN in 1951. She was confirmed at the Mission Covenant Church in Viking, MN. Arlene attended Viking Grade School and graduated from Newfolden High school in 1968. On June 22, 1968, Arlene was united in marriage to Floyd M. Erickson at the Mission Covenant Church in Viking, MN and they made their home in Thief River Falls, MN. Arlene worked at Inga's Café through High School. From 1968 until 1981, Arlene worked at Arctic Cat; from 1981 until 1995 she worked at Bergan Travel; and from 1995 until the time of her passing Arlene worked at Digi-Key where she worked as a Production Business Assigned Account Representative. She loved to travel with her husband, Floyd to watch the Vikings and the Twins games. She enjoyed her Alaska cruise for her 40th Wedding Anniversary and many other trips with family and friends. She made many friends wherever she went. Arlene was a very caring and energetic woman and loved to give everyone hugs and kisses. Arlene was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls where she served on the church council. She was a member of the Ladies of the Elks; was a director on the Pennington County Fair Board (the Fair Board enjoyed the Arlene & Floyd comedy hour ~Floyd would start the joke and Arlene would finish it); and enjoyed volunteering at the Thief River Care Center. Survivors include her loving husband & best friend of 44 years, Floyd; loving daughter & friend, Shari (Bill) Yonke; loving granddaughter & friend, Brittney Elizabeth Holter; and loving grandson & friend, Cole Jason Holter all of Thief River Falls, MN; special friend, Diamond (her cat); brothers and sisters, Carolyn (Rodney) Grandstrand of Maple Plain, MN, Marion (Glen) Halvorson of Fosston, MN, Bill (Angie) Copeland of Senoia, GA, Bob Hart of Vancouver, WA; step-brothers, Darrell (Shirley) Swenson of Red Lake Falls, MN, Allen (Randi) Swenson of Thief River Falls, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rodney (Sonja) Erickson of Hallock, MN, Dean Erickson of Thief River Falls, MN, Sandra (Harold) Beito of Roseau, MN, Shelly (Steve) Stone of Thief River Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son, Jason Floyd "Bubba" Erickson on September 27, 1992; parents, Roy Jefferson Copeland and Elizabeth O. Johnson Copeland Swenson; step-father, Art Swenson; brothers and sisters, Leland Copeland, Ginny McGlynn, Gene Copeland; and nephew/Godchild, John McGlynn; father-in-law, Lloyd Erickson and mother-in-law, Goldie Erickson Weckworth; and brother-in-law, Gary Erickson.
