Arlene Johnson was born August 28, 1937 at Greenbush, MN, the daughter of Oscar and Lillie (Olson) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at Oslo Lutheran Church west of Karlstad, MN. She went to school in Karlstad and attended Karlstad High School, graduating in 1955.
On June 26, 1960, Arlene was united in marriage to Kenneth Kain at Oslo Lutheran Church, west of Karlstad, MN. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls, MN and had two daughters. Arlene worked at the Falls Clinic and Northwestern Hospital and later worked for Dr Seaverson. Eventually, Arlene worked for Digi-Key, where she retired in 2003.
Arlene loved to entertain and cook for her family and friends. She spent many weekends on camping trips and later on traveling to warm destinations. She looked forward to celebrating birthdays and anniversaries and shopping. Over many years, she has been an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She sang in the church choir, served meals, was on the altar guild, and was always stopping by the church to check on something for Sunday. Arlene enjoyed flowers and vegetables from her many gardens, reading a good book, listening to music, and going out for coffee.
Survived by husband, Kenneth, Thief River Falls, MN; daughters, Janell (Patrick) Yutrzenka, Bloomington, MN and Cynthia (Stephen) Miner, Olympia, WA; 2 grandchildren, Kyle and Kameron Miner; brother Eldon (Joyce) Johnson, Apache Junction, AZ; sisters-in-law, Bernice Bengtson, Hallock, MN and Marjorie (Gordon) Nelson, Lancaster, MN.
Preceded in death by parents; brothers-in-law, Art Bengtson and Earl Kain.
Arlene Kain, died Friday, April 8, 2005 surrounded by her family at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND, at the age of 67 years, 7 months, and 10 days. May her memory be blessed.
