Arlys C. Konickson, of St. Hilaire, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at home, at the age of 78.

A gathering time for family and friends will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

A memorial service in honor of Arlys will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. Frank Ehling officiating.

A burial will be held at the Community Cemetery in St. Hilaire, MN, this summer, with a gathering to follow.

Arlys Christine Swenson was born on November 7, 1943, in Thief River Falls, MN, to Alvin and Dorothy (Boman) Swenson.  She baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, MN.  In 1961 Arlys graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN.

On June 23, 1963 Arlys was united marriage to Jerry Konickson at Calvary Lutheran in St. Hilaire.  She moved from her home farm in St. Hilaire to the Twin Cities with Jerry for a short time until they moved back to the Konickson farm, which is a half a mile south of her childhood home.  The couple was blessed with three sons – Kurt, Keith "Skeeter," and Bradley.

Throughout the years Arlys worked from home as a seamstress, making many wedding dresses, prom dresses, and alterations.  She was a pro at replacing zippers and patching jeans.  She also worked at Thief River Linen and could sew anything.

Arlys enjoyed watching the wildlife at her home and was an avid gardener – peonies being her favorite.  Some of her favorite times were visiting with family and friends at home and at Konickson Park.  She also enjoyed playing solitaire and had many hobbies including coloring with colored pencils, embroidery, and rug-making.  It was just last summer when Arlys earned her last of many blue ribbons at the county fair for her rug and quilt crafting.

Arlys was a happy person who enjoyed life and helping others.  She loved her time at home with her dog, Cubby and Wilbur the cat.

Arlys is survived by her son, Bradley, St. Hilaire, MN; grandchildren, Jade and Chase Konickson; great-grandchildren, Sophia and Jaxon; siblings, Ron (Millie) Swenson from Oregon and Micki (Marion) Swenson also of Oregon; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Konickson 2002; sons, Kurt in 2011 and Keith in 2020; sister, Doreen; and youngest brother, Mark.
