Arnold S. Olson Sr., 89, of Mentor, MN died on Friday, October 12, 2001 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center at Erskine, MN. Arrangements with Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at 1:30 PM in Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor, MN with Reverend Sylvia Jerdee Officiating. Burial will be held in the Faith Lutheran Cemetery at Mentor.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 " 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at the Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor and also one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Arnold Sorenius Olson Sr. was born August 7, 1912 near Crookston, MN son of the late Conrad and Henrietta (Jensrud) Olson. He was raised there and attended rural school. He was a farmhand for several people in the area until purchasing a farm near Mentor where he lived and worked until his retirement. On April 17, 1936 he was united in marriage to Mervyn Ostgard near Crookston, MN. She passed away March 25, 1991. He married Marie Plante on April 9, 1994; she passed away July 13, 1999. On May 9, 2001 he entered the Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine where he has since resided. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Mentor.
He is survived by his children Arnold (Audrey) Olson Jr. of Mentor, MN; Roger (Linda) Olson of Mentor, MN; Gloria (Dale) Parkin of Alexandria, MN; Gary (Patricia) Olson of Lengby, MN; Nancy (Rolland) Gagner of Erskine, MN; David (Janice) Olson of Red Lake Falls, MN; Daughter in law Judy Olson of Red Lake Falls, MN; step children Margaret (Dennis) Lee of Red Lake Falls, MN; Lorraine (Harold) Keeler of Red Lake Falls, MN; Richard Hallebrot of Barnesville, MN. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One brother Rueben (Stella) Olson of Crookston, MN; one sister Arlene Brule of Fargo, ND and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wives Mervyn and Marie, one son Stephen Olson: 2 grandsons Stephen and Scott.
In Lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Pioneer Memorial Care Center or Faith Lutheran Church.
