Arnold Person, Oklee, MN age 92, died on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 2:00 PM January 29, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN with Reverend Margaret Jacobus Officiating. Burial will be held at Valle Cemetery rural Oklee, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Oklee, MN and also one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Arnold Person was born October 24, 1921 on the family farm, Equality Township, Red Lake County, MN son of the late A. O. and Anne (Omlid) Person. He was raised in Equality Township and attended rural School. On October of 1942 he entered the US Army Airforce and served until his honorable discharge in 1946. He returned to Oklee and began farming on the home farm. On April 24, 1948 he was united in marriage to Carolyn Spencer at her grandfather Nels Loiland farm. The couple purchased their home farm in 1950 where they continued to live. Arnold served as Red Lake County Commissioner for 12 years, Red Lake Watershed board for 15 years, Red River watershed board and the State Board of Water and Soil Resources. Life member of the Trail VFW, Commander of the Trail VFW several times. Equality Township board for ten years, Valle church council and cemetery association. He enjoyed wood crafting, hunting, fishing, playing cards, spending time at the lake with his family, gardening and canning. Most of all he enjoyed the time spent with his family. Arnold is survived by his wife of 65 years Carolyn of Oklee, MN; children Peggy (Daryl) Schumacher of Crookston, MN, Howard (Rita) Person of Thief River Falls, MN, Mike (Nancy) Person of Hendrum, MN and Dave (Jenny) Person of Oklee, MN: grandchildren John Schumacher, Chad Schumacher, Kari Schumacher, Sondra McClean, Christie Knaack, Kristen Benidt, Kelsey Person, Jared Person, Jade Person, Nick Palmer: great-grandchildren Kayla, Anna, Derrick, Joseph, Dylan, Jack, and Owen. One brother Ralph (Joann) Person of Wenatchee, WA, several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter LeAnn Palmer, parents A.O. and Anne Person, siblings Bergit Sordahl, Gladis Winkler and Elmer Person.
