Arnold Reigstad, 69, of Newfolden, Minnesota, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Meritcare Northwest Campus in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 27 2009 at Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden, MN with Pastor Gary Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Queen Township Cemetery, rural Gully, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M. on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arnold Iven Reigstad was born on June 14, 1939 in Grand Forks, ND to Iver and Agnes (Forsberg) Reigstad. He was baptized in the Lutheran Faith and in 1953 was confirmed at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks. Arnold attended Grand Forks Central High School and later joined the Minnesota National Guard.

On March 16, 1963 Arnold was united in marriage to Ruth Grue. To this union 4 children were born, Mark, Kevin, Steven and Stephanie. The family lived on a farm in Eden Township near Gully, MN where Arnold farmed with his uncle and grandfather. They later moved into Fosston. Arnold also worked as an over-the-road truck driver. On September 6, 1991 Ruth and Steven were killed in an auto accident just outside of Gully, MN.

On October 17, 1998 Arnold married Jennifer Maurstad and the couple made their home in Newfolden. Arnold welcomed Jennys three children, Bryan, Matthew, and Amanda to their family. He has spent over 20 years driving semi-truck for Hartz Truck Line out of Thief River Falls.

Arnold had the gift of gab and always enjoyed visiting with his many family members and friends. He enjoyed most types of music, going to Rollag, and also collected John Deere model farm equipment. He was always interested in and cared about other people and was active with church functions and bible studies at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden. He was a member of the Lions Club as well as Bethel Assembly in Fosston, MN.

Arnold is survived by his wife Jennifer Reigstad of Newfolden; children, Mark of Fargo, ND and Kevin (Patricia) of Manchester NH, Stephanie (Brian) Jadeke of Warren, MN; stepchildren, Bryan (Kristin) Maurstad of Newfolden, MN, Matthew Maurstad of Viking, MN and Amanda (Nick) Woinarowicz of Thief River Falls, MN; 8 grandchildren, Aaron and Britney Johnson, Amber, Adam, and Alex Maurstad, Dylan, Michael and Brianna Maurstad; siblings Bart (Barbara) Reigstad of Shoreview, MN, Daryll (Glenda) Reigstad of Circle Pines, MN, Betty Johnson of Hawaii, Janet (Lars) Carlson of Renton, WA, Judy (Dennis) Sanders of Forest Lake, MN, Lana (Jerry) Broderson of Superior, WI; mother in law Ruby Sandberg, Thief River Falls, MN, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth; son Steven and parents Iver and Agnes Reigstad.
