Arthur Henry Seibel, 83, of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at his rural Red Lake Falls, MN home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls with Reverend John Bumgardner officiating. Burial will be held at the Oak Grove cemetery near Red Lake Falls following the service. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 to 8 PM with a 7 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service chapel in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Arthur Seibel was born June 10, 1929, in Elgin, ND, to parents William and Lydia (Heim) Seibel. At the age of five, Art moved to the Red Lake Falls area with his family where he attended rural school and later received his GED. On October 14, 1950, he was united in marriage to Betty Weiss at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. The couple lived for a time in Thief River Falls, then purchased the family farm in Gervais township from his father where they have since resided. During his life he worked construction on missile bases in North Dakota, owned and operated a gas transport service, hauled gravel, milked cows, raised chickens, sheep, and pigs and was a grain farmer. He was also a Cargill seed dealer for 21 years. He was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, served on the township board several years, was county commissioner for two terms and served on the Oak Grove cemetery board. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and traveling. Arthur was always up to something and was always thinking, which led him to several inventions and patents credited to his name. He was a good storyteller who enjoyed teasing the grandkids, but most of all loved his wife and his family. Art is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty, as well as their seven children, Jim (Renae)Seibel, Thief River Falls, MN, Janis Engen, Bemidji, MN, Joan Soberaski (Darrel Olson) Lake Bronson, MN, Connie (Paul)Annis, Kremlin, MT, Thomas (Connie)Seibel, Red Lake Falls, MN, Karen (James)Gudvangen, Crookston, MN, and Angela (Shane)Vonasek, Roseau, MN; 16 grandchildren, Jeremy(Shannon) Seibel, Kristina(Will) Ingle, Aaron Engen, Andrew Engen, Ryan(Kimberly) Soberaski, Justin Soberaski, Brian Hagen, Melissa(David)Duffner, Jenny(Jared) Kelley, Jenelle(Brian Remick) Hartmann, Jolene(Jason) Bradley, Samantha Shields, Thomas Gudvangen, Erik(Jessica)Gudvangen, Cody and Justine Vonasek; 26 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Theodore Seibel, Kalispell, MT. Preceding him in death are his parents, William and Lydia (Heim)Seibel; brother and sister, Ervin Seibel and Arlene Arlt; infant brother and sister, John and Dorothy; sons-in-law, Donavon Engen and Rodney Soberaski. Casketbearers are Jeremy Seibel, Ryan Soberaski, Justin Soberaski, Andrew Engen, Aaron Engen, Jared Kelley, Cody Vonasek and Chase Magner.
