Arthur Cloutier, 66, died Thursday, May 27, 2004 at home in Thief River Falls, MN.
Arthur Bryce Cloutier was born March 20, 1938 at Thief River Falls, MN, the son of Alexander Joseph and Irene (Bedard) Cloutier. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Bernards Church and attended St. Bernards Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School, Thief River Falls. He also attended Northland Community College from September 1965 until June, 1967 and received an Associate of Arts Degree. Arthur served in the United States Army from September 27, 1961 until his honorable discharge September 13, 1963. While in the service he was awarded the Sharpshooters Medal.
On July 9, 1975, Arthur was united in marriage to Carole Farbo.
He was employed with the Pennington County Highway Department in the Engineering Department, worked as a floor mechanic and salesperson at Schlechter Paint and Hobby Store, Thief River Falls, from May 1964 to July 1965 and worked nights at Freds Cab Service from July 1965 to June 1967, while attending Northland Community College. He was an engineering aide for the Development Department of Donaldson Company, Incorporated, Bloomington, MN, from June 1967 to November 1968. He then became owner/operator of Freds Cab Service in Thief River Falls, from November 1968 until June 1986 and Artic Cat until his retirement.
He was active in coaching hockey, Boy Scouts, hunting, firearms training and was a member of the 1956 Minnesota State Hockey Championship Team. He also held membership in the American Legion, Foresters and was a Boy Scout leader.
Survived by children, Caron (Wade) Alten and Bryan Cloutier, all Thief River Falls, MN; 4 grandchildren, Jesse, Logan, Elizabeth and Colby Alten, Thief River Falls, MN; the mother of his children, Carole Cloutier, Thief River Falls, MN; a sister, Gloria (Lynn) Thompson, Grafton, ND; nieces, Mare Thompson, Grand Forks, ND, Cathy Thompson, Appleton, WI and Ellie (Tom) Clarke, Seal Beach, CA and a nephew, Paul (Jill) Thompson, Grafton, ND.
Preceded in death by son, Alexander, an infant daughter and parents.
