Arthur Ekman, 86, died on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad, MN.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 24, 2002 at the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden, MN with Reverend Gary Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Newfolden, MN.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, August 23, 2002 at the Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Friday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Arthur Palmer Ekman was born on June 19, 1916 on the Family Farm in New Folden Township, Marshall County, Minnesota to Nils and Mary Helen (Berg) Ekman. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith at the Mission Free Church and attended school in Newfolden. He stayed to work on the Family Farm, where he farmed his entire life. He also did custom cattle hauling to Fargo to the Livestock Yards. Art never worked on a Sunday, because it is a day of rest.
He enjoyed hunting deer and loved to feed the deer in his back yard for years.
He was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Newfolden.
Arthur is survived by two brothers: Ernest Ekman of Karlstad, MN and Cecil Ekman of St. Louis, MO; one sister: Hazel (John) Ristau of Thornton, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Walter Ekman and Oscar Ekman; and four sisters, Clarice Donarski, Irene Jansen, Myrtle McKivor, and Inga Ekman.
