Barbara Jean Gerardy Konickson, 52, of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Friday August 7, 2020 at her residence in the loving arms of her husband and with family by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held only for family at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Robert Schreiner presiding. Public visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Burial will be at Clearwater Cemetery, Wyandotte Township, Pennington County, MN at a later date.

Barbara Jean Gerardy was born March 26, 1968 in Thief River Falls, MN the daughter of Jerome "Jerry" and Carol (Davis) Gerardy. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Plummer, MN. Barb attended school in Plummer graduating with the class of 1986 and then attended St. Cloud Model College of Hair Design.

Following school, Barb lived in the Twin Cities where she worked at Great Expectations Hair Salon and Great Clips Hair Salon.

On June 9, 1990, Barb was united in marriage to Michael Konickson at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN. The couple made their home in Minnetonka, MN for two years before settling in Thief River Falls.

Barb worked for American Family Insurance for 27 years, the last 14 years with the Justin Kjos Agency as Office Manager. Barb enjoyed the relationships she built while serving her customers and many became good friends.

Barb was the most kind, awesome, big-hearted, giving, caring, nurturing and loving woman. She was like a mother to all her nieces, nephews, great nieces & great nephews and had a love for her chocolate labs, Levi, LeRoy and Shelly. She had a mission for keeping family traditions alive and hosting her friends at home. Her gatherings always centered around food, fun and making memories. She enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, crafts, hunting, ice fishing, camping and gardening. Barb especially enjoyed teaching and handing down traditions to her nieces and nephews.

Throughout their 30 years of marriage, Barb and Mike had an unconditional love for each other.

They shared their love as an inspiration to others. Together they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, canning, cooking, traveling and simply being together.

Barb was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, American Cancer Society, Fourtown/Grygla Sportsman's Club and was a licensed insurance agent through the State of Minnesota.

Survivors include her loving husband, Mike of Thief River Falls; siblings, Tammy, Charles (Cheryl), Kevin (Diane), Nancy Wallberg, Peter (Mary), Tony (Sheila) and David; sisters-in-law, Vicki (Rick) Stokke and Janelle (Chad) Nelson; nieces and nephews, Josh, Dylan, Rylee, Kyle (Whitney), Jeremy (Michelle), Matthew, Christopher (Sarah), Nicholas, Rachel, Hannah, Mallory (Charlie), Brett (Hannah), Abigail (Logan), Gabrielle, Briana (Beau), Haeli (Zach), Morgan (Ryan), Alaina, Holden (Kelsi), Wyatt and Ellie; great nieces and great nephews, Bella, Emmersyn, Karoline, Dakota, Aubrey, Lyla, Hailey, Briar, Blake, Sawyer, Baby girl Gerardy coming November 2020, Grayson and Emery; special cousin, Lucas Norberg; her lab baby, Shelly; and many other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; father & mother-in-law, Wayne & Carol Konickson; grandparents; and labs, Levi & LeRoy.
