Barbara K. Johnson, 69, died Friday, June 4, 2010 at Hillcrest Senior Living, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Greg Schram officiating. Burial will follow at Rindal Cemetery, New Solem Twp., Marshall County, MN.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 until time of services on Tuesday at the church.

Barbara Kay Johnson was born August 14, 1940 in Thief River Falls, MN to Clifford and Ruth (Engebretson) Johnson. She attended school at Newfolden, MN and Bemidji State Teachers College. She was baptized at Nazareth Lutheran Church and confirmed at Rindal Lutheran Church.
She taught elementary school in Holt, MN and then Newfolden, MN until she retired due to health issues in 1977. She substitute taught in Newfolden, Viking, and Thief River Falls after retirement. She enjoyed her cocker spaniels, feeding the wild birds, gardening, reading, and spending time outdoors experiencing nature. Barbara made her home with her parents on their farmstead in rural Newfolden until June of 2005 when she entered Hillcrest Nursing Home.
She is survived by her mother, Ruth Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN; brother, Dale Johnson and wife Annette, Newfolden, MN; nephew Mark (Kathryn) Johnson, and niece Susan (Timothy) McCabe; eight great-nephews and nieces, Riley Miller, William, Benjamin, Matthew, Finn, and Ava Johnson Zachary and Allison McCabe.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father Clifford Johnson, and her aunts and uncles.
